Style: Fast Swing
"Listen Up!" is a straight-ahead fast swinger for big band. The initial inspiration is from the tune "Stompin' at the Savoy" which uses the classic call and response between the saxes and brass. The solo section is a "cutting" contest between the Alto1 and Tenor1 chairs. Range issues and the the fast tempo make this chart perfect for advanced high school or college level jazz bands. This high energy tune would be make a perfect concert opener.
