Standard Concert Band Parts with Conductor Score
Faith and Country was commissioned by the 106th Army Band, CW3 Keith Dortch commanding, stationed at Camp Joseph T. Robinson Maneuver Training Center in North Little Rock, AR. It was written in honor of 1SG Gregory L. Gordey, who served for 36 years in the U.S. Army. This work was written as a fanfare and theme with the hymn song It Is Well With My Soul as the source material. The request was to arrange the hymn from a perspective of a dedicated Army man. The initial statement of the fanfare has been interwoven through the hymn. The inspiration for this work comes from Frank Ticheli, David Holsinger and Claude T. Smith.
A few technical notes:
1) The oboe part will be derived from the flute part and edited for range.
2) The baritone saxophone part will be derived from the tuba part and edited for range.
3) The mallet percussion part can be played by one player, but two may be more efficient.
It has been an honor and a privilege to work on such a meaningful commission and I would like to thank the members of the 106th Army Band for this tremendous opportunity and for their service to our great nation.
