Style: Bossa Nova
As its name implies, "Smoothitude" is short for “smooth with attitude“. I wrote the melody for this bossa nova during a boring lecture I had to attend about a year ago. The arrangement turned out to be quite complex harmonically, using a wide variety of key centers even though the key signature does not change. The solo is written for 2nd trumpet and 1st trombone, but may be played by piano and/or guitar if necessary, for the changes may be difficult to navigate. Overall, this arrangement turned out quite interesting and would make a great addition to the latin section of any big band's repertoire.
