Standard Concert Band Parts with Conductor Score
The Choctaw Rocket was written for the 2015 Booneville Intermediate Band in Booneville, AR. The music commemorates the Choctaw Rocket, which was the first and fastest locomotive in Arkansas. Its regular stops were Memphis, Little Rock and Booneville.
As its name suggests, the music should sound like a moving train. The percussionist should use aluminum trash cans with brushes and/or sticks on the bottom of the can with accents struck on the side. The water chime is to remove a chime from the rack and repeatedly strike the chime while dipping it in a bucket of water, simulating the doppler effect.
TT Music offers its sincere appreciation to the 2016 University of Arkansas at Fort Smith Wind Ensemble for its contribution of this recording.
